Quiet Joyful Calm

When I came to the Dahn Yoga Center 2 years ago, I didn’t know that the continual thoughts in my head could stop. I was stressed, having difficulty sleeping, and often impatient. Brain Wave Vibration is healing me! My life is more joyful. I usually sleep well at night. When I’m teaching, I feel calm and confident. There are actually times when my head doesn’t feel crammed full of thoughts! Such Light! Such Joy!

Midway through my 21 day training

You may have seen my post several days ago on my first day of a special form of 21-day Brain Wave Vibration training. Today is day 11 and I wanted to update you on my progress. The training is to bow 300 times each day for 21 days. I have learned a lot about myself so far. For example, when I began this training I didn’t fully comprehend the commitment and the importance of the promise I made to myself to keep training each day. On day 5 I felt tired and only did 160 bows, but I didn’t feel good about it. When I discussed this with the head instructor at my center they encouraged me to make up for the missed bows. This meant that I needed to do 440 bows the following day. It felt like a huge wall was placed in front of me. I wondered if I had enough courage and commitment in me to continue the training. I am proud to report that I did complete the 440 bows on day 6 and I have continued with the 300 bows each day since. Now on day 11 the bowing meditation is easier, my lower body is getting strong, and I am gaining self confidence that will be useful in all areas of my life.

Now I’m really walking

Due to back and neck pain, the only exercise I used to do was walking–with limitations because my sciatic nerve was pinched most of the time. In addition, for the last 6 months I have had plantar fasciitis in my feet which made walking very painful. Now, after guidance from our Head Instructor Ben on how to walk correctly (Jang Saeng or Vitality Walking), the pain in the soles of my feet has disappeared. And thanks to the Dahn Yoga sessions, which include Brain Wave Vibration, the sciatic nerve has not been bothering me for the last three weeks. When I first began to walk to the Dahn Yoga center, it took me 45 minutes. Now I am able to walk very briskly and the same distance takes me 25 minutes.

When I first started practicing I was concerned about my lack of flexibility, balance, and the coordination of my body, but as time goes by I feel more and more agile.

An additional benefit is that I have lost some weight and for first time in my life, controlling my weight is not a great sacrifice, since my body doesn¡¯t crave food all of the time.

I still have some issues with my back, but I am absolutely sure that with regular training the pain will eventually go away. This realization is perhaps the most important benefit from DahnMuDo and Brain Wave Vibration: my attitude has changed not only towards physical pain but also towards emotional pain. I am not only able to control my body better, but using a few tips I have received, I am able to control my emotions better as well.

Lastly but not least, I found a great group of people who share the same objectives as I do–to have a healthier and happier life.

Giving the gift of love to myself

My daughter and I joined Dahn Yoga in November 2006. We wanted to learn yoga and get fit. Little did we know we received more than exercise!

I was so busy loving and caring for family and friends, I forgot to love and care for myself. I was so emotional in the beginning, crying in class and was in pain doing the moves. It just takes time and telling myself, “ICAN DO IT, I CAN DO IT!” The homework helps and going to class three times a week have amde me stronger emotionally, more flexible, and I have a lot of energy.

The Brain Wave Vibration CD and book has helped me. I work it in with my homework. Ten minutes everyday makes for a happy day. This has trained me to live in the moment and appreciate the little things in life. Listening to the birds sing, hearing the sounds of the outdoors, enjoying the warmth of the sunshine.

What a fantastic gift I’ve given myself joining Dahn Yoga. Now I take the time to care for and love myself.

How wonderful this experience has been to share this with my daughter. We share what we have learned in Dahn Yoga with our family and friends.

Losing weight physicall and mentally

My reflection on the 21-day miracle Brain Wave Vibration training:

Working the 21 day miracle, I set my goal to lose 5 lbs. and to be more in sync with my deepest desire–to be one spiritually and physically, centered in my response to God in my life.

Morning and evening I am faithful to 5-10 minutes of BWV, daily chewing each bite of my food 25 times, walking on days I don’t have yoga class, and practicing yoga at home. I feel my total well-being increasing, and less pain in my knees and back. I realize again the importance of group support in reaching one’s goals. I have grown in my daily practice, and have to improve in eating well. At my age, change comes more slowly, but it is happening. And, even including the Thanksgiving Holidays, I lost 3 lbs. Yes!!

Happy thoughts make a healthy body

The 21-day Brain Wave Vibration program was very beneficial to me in many ways. It helped me to set my goals to myself and to achieve those goals. During the second week into the program, I realized that my state of mind was very happy and free. I started to have more positive and optimistic perspective towards myself and my environments. As my emotional level elevated, my physical body felt lighter and healthier. I am more focused and trying to pay more attention to the situations I am in and people around me with more understanding and a pleasant thinking mind. In the morning or at night, I find myself looking up at the sky and smiling a smile with happy thoughts and peaceful feelings. It is a good feeling. I still have my moments of ups and downs but I have the tools I learned from the program. I will continue to apply them in my daily life as part of my Dahn Yoga practice. “If I choose it, it will happen. Good messages make good brain. Pay attention!? Feeling Better in My Body and About My Body

I had been struggling with Fibromyalgia and arthritis in my joints. I was taking medication as well as getting cortisone shots in my neck and shoulder, but nothing seemed to help. I felt worse after every treatment! My daughter could see that I was suffering and she wanted me to feel better but without taking so many pills. After all this, I was also beginning to loose my balance too. I had trouble staying steady on my feet, and I couldn’t walk up stairs without support.

The pain and frustration were really getting to me. I decided I would try this one last thing. Then I took several classes called Brain Wave Vibration. Almost immediately I felt my body change. I could feel energy moving in a way I had never felt before. The next day, I didn’t feel as much pain in my body. It was amazing!

The Brain Wave Vibration class helped me change the way I felt in my body and also change the way I felt about my body. With the help of Brain Wave Vibration, I have stopped taking pain medication. I’m not tired or depressed now, I don’t need pain medication to get me through the day. My family is thrilled with the new me.

Feeling good, looking great

I have developed an increased awareness of my physical body and the areas in need of healing or repair. I have also taken control of the pace of my life and have begun to tune into my universe.

For the first time ever, I am recognizing and making a connection between my mind, body, and spirit. Brain Wave Vibration has empowered me to make positive, healthy changes in my life.

I have lost weight, improved circulation to my extremities, and found a way to heal myself all with a sense of calm, peace, and joy. In a single week, two different people have told me that I’ve lost weight and that I look good.

More importantly, I feel good!

Stabilized tremors without medication

All my life I have suffered from a genetic condition called essential tremor. It causes my head to shake, and I have problems with balance generally. I noticed that the Brain Wave Vibration we did in the center helped me a lot, so I started doing it at home, too, to control the tremor.

Overall Dahn Yoga has been very a positive influence on my life.

I joined Dahn Yoga in June 2006 after I received a flyer on my doorstep. It offered a free trial class and I had been thinking I needed to try some sort of a class to increase my flexibility.

I did not read the flyer closely because I was so busy that I missed the free class.I pretty much just showed up and asked to give it a try. Once I was there, the class seemed very silly and tried hard not to laugh in class. I did not think I got anything from the class.

However, after the evening class I went home and actually got a good nights sleep for the first time in years. The next day I returned and signed up for a 3 month program and made a promise to myself to give this class my best efforts.I kept my promise and attended the evening class every evening I was available.

Then I started working individually with my instructor in private healing classes.The first few sessions were very painful and I did not think I was ever going to make progress. By the last few sessions, I felt so much better, it was remarkable. I have improved my flexibility and reduced my joint pain tremendously.I feel much more in control and am losing weight.

Overall Dahn Yoga has been very a positive influence on my life and I will continue to make progress with my goals.
